Nuno Miguel Costa, Coordinator of the Board of the Ílhavo Maritime Museum, wrote in the preamble of the exhibition catalogue Mar Oceano: The Legacy of Mário Ruivo the guiding concept for the book designed by noronhadesign:

“Today, even more than in the past, it becomes clear that Portugal’s future is closely tied to the sea. Its geographical condition has shaped a complex and diverse maritime identity, with contradictory perspectives for the future. This umbilical relationship, and its framing within a broader context, served as the starting point for a museological project broadly inspired by the profound work of Mário Ruivo.”
